  i'm only 8 minutes in, but i love that your advice is more general, more like a mindset for how one can approach ANY artwork. rather than a bunch of specific tips that are only applicable based on certain contexts, i like that you encourage people to think about HOW to think about something instead of just WHAT to think about. i'm learning a lot from your tips, thank you!

  I never comment on videos (bc I watch YouTube on TV). This made me go to my phone to come comment. This is the best video on color I have seen. Thank you for your time making this. Plus, very relaxing - and thank you for no loud music overlay.

  To me the tricky thing about that painting is composition.  Fitting all those shapes in a small  rectangle correctly is even more crucial than getting color correct at first.

  It's not always a fear of making bad paintings.  For me, it was very much a fear of "wasting" high quality art materials.  But using those high quality materials is needed in order to properly understand the materials you're working with.  I got around this fear by building up a stock of my most used materials (particularly the ones that wont degrade quickly), so I never had to paint from a place of fear or scarcity.  I can fully immerse myself now in the learning and experimentation experience without any anxiety.

  You're such a wonderful teacher (and artist)! Thank you for taking the time to not only share your tips, but to actually do the exercise as a tutorial in the video. It's been incredibly helpful to see the process. I'm excited to try my own master copy color studies now.
