  Prince Philip is my favorite Royal. He was a normal man just like us all, and wouldn’t hesitate to help a stranger.

  I'm from LA, but I lived and worked in London for 11 years. I'd walk from Mayfair through Green Park and cut across the front of Buckhingham Palace everyday on my way to the train station at Victoria. On the side of the Palace there was a door in the high wall that opened up to the stables. One day a couple of handsome, young men came out that gate and they were joking about how Prince Phillip had been flirting with the stable girls. I'll always remember that. It was funny. I also got to bring down an umbrella for Princess Anne who came to visit the Kennel Club one day where I worked. I didn't get to see her though. Those were good times.

  I'm old enough to remember Prince Philip from just after the coronation. My respect for him is huge. Splendid programme.

  Prince Phillip did &apos;chatting up&apos; with a real reason in mind. He realized early on the miasma of royalty cuts it off in so many ways from the rest of the world. His mother, a renown religious leader, and the British navy&apos;s culture of frankness, led him to his long time practice of talking to ordinary people at length. He realized ordinary people had strong insight into complex problems and often devised practical solutions or effective workarounds that governments and authorities never become aware of. So he had regular light banter sessions with ALL of the palace staff to work toward being able to have honest at length discussions when problems arose in the royal &apos;firm.&apos;

  Prince Phillip was such an interesting person -- off-color at times, quite forthright in his opinions, but never boring.
