What a great find, and to survived for so long. The work you do, the repacing of the filter caps, and that work on the backing board, just fantastic and another credit to you. Well done !!!

Well, this video certainly opened a floodgate of memories I haven't thought about in years. During my pre-teen years, I was an avid listener to 'Test Match Special'. I spent those broadcast days of my summer holidays listening to the programme on the then 'Third Programme' frequency (3rd prog didn't start until 6 or 7 pm). It didn't matter that I was a Scot and this was the English cricket team that was playing. It was CRICKET!

All this because you mentioned English folk listening to FOOTBALL commentaries. Wash your mouth out with soap, sir! The then commentators were E W Swanton, Rex Alston and John Arlott. What a voice THAT conjures up. Oh, and well done on the restoration. The radio I listened to was a Pye model about 25% wider than this model. It looked less squat but had a similar patterned facia.

What's great about old equipment like this, is that you know you will nearly always get it back to working order, not having to worry about trying to find hard to get parts, as for modern equipment, such as SMD components, including certain ICs, for example.

Surprised it worked at all without repairs. The result was satisfying, it shines like a new penny and it's ready for another 66 years. Thanks for the art, science, and humor.

Welcome back David. I've missed the exquisite attention to detail, so a teatime sit down to see an old UK radio brought back to a condition as good if not better than new. Thanks for sharing
