Let's explore the depths of it in the video. Obi-Wan takes a deep breath and regards his young apprentice as he enters the Jedi Council Chambers. There is a weariness in the looks they gave them, thanks to the recent Battle of Geonosis. Although the Republic has claimed victory, it was draining on the two of them and the Jedi Order as a whole. It was also not decisive enough to stop the CIS from escaping with most of their droid army. This means that the Jedi and their new clones must now hunt them down and defeat them across the galaxy. Already, there are rumors that the droids are starting to attack some Outer Rim territories. The Jedi Council will discuss that, but first, they need to handle this. Yoda: Skywalker, speak to you we do about the events on Geonosis. Difficult they were for you, yes? Anakin: Yes, master. But not just for me. I think everyone had a difficult time there. Yoda: Yes, but particularly challenging it was for you. Heard about the decision you had to make on the gunship with Padme, we have. Anakin: Concerned. Master. I know that we aren’t allowed to hold attachments, but it was difficult, and I wasn’t thinking clearly. Yoda: Difficult, yes. And yet in the end, choose the greater good, you did. Not punishing you, we are. Rewarding you. Mace: Sighs. Skywalker. We won’t pretend we approve of how attached you are to the senator. In fact, we expect you to handle that and soon. However, we also understand you were given a difficult task and a near-impossible choice. In the end, you did your duty at a great cost to yourself. Anakin: Master, I am grateful you see things that way. Yoda: Yes, agreed, we have to make you a master for your actions. Anakin: Stunned. A Jedi Master? S-surely you’re joking, Master Yoda. Master Windu? Mace: Do I look like the type who jokes, young one? Yes, I know this is unprecedented. I have made that point very clear to everyone here. However, Obi-Wan has said you display a level of competence far above your status as a Padawan. And this situation has shown that when push comes to shove, you will do what’s best for the galaxy. Anakin: Still, a Jedi Master. I don’t know what to say. I’m overwhelmed. Obi-Wan: You have earned it, my friend. I am proud to see how far you’ve come. Mace: One thing we wish to make clear, though, is that this rank is provisional. The Jedi Council reserves the right to strip you of it if it finds just cause. Yoda: Whether you keep it or not depends on your actions, it does. Mace: Yes, be warned, Skywalker. If you accept this rank, you will accept all the responsibilities and expectations that come with it. You must behave yourself as befitting of your status. Understood? Anakin: Of course, Master. I will strive to be worthy of it. Yoda: Good, now rest, you two should. Difficult this time has been for you, and long is the road we must still walk. Obi-Wan and Anakin both bow before leaving the chambers, letting the Jedi Council relax and consider their next move. They meant what they said about Anakin, but there was also much they weren’t telling him. The position was also equally political and pragmatic, as it was based on merit. They lost many Jedi Masters on Geonosis, and they cannot easily be replaced. Many promising Jedi had to be promoted to fill the ranks. Aside from that, footage of the battle and reports of Anakin’s actions have been spread by the Senate. They said it was to raise morale, and in that way, they were correct in that regard, as now the holonet is filled with chatter about Anakin. How daring his rescue was, how brave he was to try and fight Dooku and stop the war. Even though he lost his hand, many call him a hero. Meanwhile, support for the Jedi is at an all-time low. Making him a master would help shorten support for them. In the first few weeks after the promotion, Anakin is quick to enjoy many of the privileges that his new position grants him. The most notable amongst these is access to the restricted section of the Jedi archives. #starwars #starwarswhatif #whatif
