“ITE” in my time at RTC was called “Happy Hour” and we had a Navy Seal leading it.

As an RDC, did you ever know about the “motivational boot camp speaker” I hated that when I went through, there’s always a recruit when the red lights came on and said things like “we have to work together” right when I’m trying to sleep

That's perfect with the track. I'm not great with running, but the track at my local college recreation center is 12 laps for 1.5 mile. 12 minutes today I know I can improve. Just started with a good jog today and ended in a dead sprint. Felt great. Also swimming for an hour before. Where I think I might struggle is mental and discipline.

In the old days , we lined up tall to short so short guys were always jostling not to be the two outer guys and then have to be road guards from the back row.

When I went to RTC/NTC, San Diego, 1982, a guy who left Phoenix with me and was in my company (173) was a road guard. We realized he could hear well and wouldn't move when the RCPO called road guards in. So whoever was closest to him in the height line when it was called would tap him so he could run back to formation. We got him 2 weeks from graduation before the CC caught on. We were all bummed out cause he was a really cool cat. He was medically separated.
