I come from a polygamist family in my mom’s side. My GG grandmother and wife #1 were good friends. When GGGrandpa passed My GGGrandmother worked and wife #1 stayed home and cared for the children. All the kids loved her. No bad feelings at all

I had a dream about my husband's first wife about three months before I met him. I didn't know who she was until I saw a family picture while we were dating. In the dream there was a very loving, sisterly feeling between us. We are both sealed to him. Their children feel like my own. We each have 7: three boys & four girls. I hope to be part of this family forever. In the Celestial kingdom the negative emotions such as jealousy & envy & possession will not be looked upon favorably IMO. These are emotions that we are overcoming in this life, hopefully. ❤

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QT0npDPQYPw&t=592">9:52</a> Exactly. It’s not like there weren’t saloons in the 1800’s. Also, picking women who were much older and even some who were already pregnant, neither being sexually available, flips the sexual pleasure aspect of why JS implemented polygamy on its head. <br><br>I still fall into the category of thinking that nobody really wanted to practice polygamy from the 1830’s into the 1890’s, but the ones who did pushed through faithfully, obediently and with duty. To this day, as hard as it was and as hard as it is for us to have to keep talking about, the church has been blessed immensely because of polygamy, regardless how many leave who don’t understand it.

My second great grandmother Ellen Pucell on my mothers side was part of the ill fated Martin Willy handcart company. Her parents died at Red Rocks Wyoming when she was ten years old. She lost her legs below the knees from frost bite and had to have them amputated without anesthetic. She married my 2nd great grandfather at age 25 and was a polygamist wife. She had a far better lifestyle being married to him than she would have had being crippled and single. She had her own home in Cedar City and sufficient for her needs and paid the church back for their charity by cleaning the chapel every week, on her knees with open sores where they botched the surgery. There is a statue honoring her character at SUU campus.

When a descendant of C.S. Lewis did a forum at BYU, one student asked him something about C.S. Lewis being sexist and not featuring strong female characters. The descendant answered something very helpful (and I think pertinent to this topic) -- he said we have to be careful not to view the past with our current lens. Modern idealogies are commonplace to us now, but people didn't think that way at the time, so we can't necessarily judge them according to now.<br><br>(After that, the descendant corrected the person about their no strong females comment, and said that C.S. Lewis created Lucy, who was one of the most important characters in the Narnia series.)

In doing family history, it's common to come across a female ancestor who had two marriages. We seal her to both and let her choose.

Brittney Nash at FAIR:<br><br>"I did find that the most positive reviews of polygamy tended to be in public discourse... In private journals and records women were more likely to give vent to the frustrations and heartache they experienced..."

Thank you for an excellent interview/discussion. As a proponent of Biblical Marriage (polygyny) in Christian circles, I found this very informative! I will be watching other videos on the topic on your channel!

So if there was such a process to follow for polygamy why didnt Joseph Smith not follow that and not tell Emma for a long time? Did Orson Pratt get more revelation than the Prophet?
