I got ahold of an old puffer with a little motor and I ran it in gold basin yesterday for about 10 minutes before the motor burnt up and before the rains rolled in.. barely any material and still found 3 teeny tiny little specs of gold!!! Now I’ve got the EXTREME fever!!!!! This is all your fault sir

I found a similar working near Gleeson, AZ, recently. As I walked around, I noticed scat--lots of it, and it was big and full of fur. A mountain lion had been using the shelf under the overhang to hang out. Meow.

I grew up, up there west of Tahoe. There's one monster formation that consists of andesitic mudflow and pyroclastic flows, the Merhten Formation. Near Placerville you can see exposures where later lahars picked up house-sized chunks of older lahars and carried them down those Tertiary channels. The remains of the formation tend to rest on auriferous gravels in the former beds of the major rivers draining eastern California and western Nevada. The contact between the old river channels was heavily prospected. The Meherten mantled the Sierra from around Yosemite north past the Feather River. Just a little farther north and west, covering the western front of the Southern Cascades the Tuscan Formation covers much of the foothill area. There is little evidence of prospecting in that part of the Cascades.

Jeff, if you cover the magnet with a thin sheet of plastic, you will still collect the magnetics, and then you can separate the magnet from the plastic sheet and all the magnetics will fall off, making it easy to keep your magnet clean.
