People that haven't played the entire GOW series don't realize how hard it hits when he says: "You lost everything, and everyone." If you've played the main trilogy and spinoffs as well, you'll know that that is exactly true. Half of his family died by his hands in one way or another, aside from Deimos who was killed in front of him.

- There was him being tricked into killing his wife and child, which was what haunted him the most. Not to mention the village oracle that was present at the time cursed him to have their ashes permanently bound to his skin, thus giving him the nickname "Ghost of Sparta".
- Having to kill his mother because of a curse Zeus put on her, which activated when she revealed that Zeus was Kratos' father.
- Accidentally killing Athena because she tried to save Zeus. Even though she betrayed him in gow 2, she was not the target of his revenge.
- Killing his half brother Hercules because of Hercules' desire to overthrow Kratos himself and become the god of war.
- And then finally killing his father Zeus for everything he had done.

And when all was said and done, he had nothing left. No home, no family, and all of Greece destroyed as a result of the pantheon's death.

Now I'm glad people see this. This is what a redemption arc looks like at its completion. It took years in the making to reach to this point. Kratos life was complicated. He has done evil yes but it wasn't out of malice it was out of pain and difficult circumstances. There's a difference between evil actions by circumstance and pure evil. Punishment isn't always prison or death. That is for the pure evil. There is punishment of guilt, regret, shame, loss and loneliness. This is for evil actions by circumstance. These are the kind of people that grow and learn. This is not saying they aren't guilty of course they are. that's the point. The difference between them and a pure evil person is that they are aware of it and they have the capacity of change. Also, when someone is put in circumstances situations it's different than somebody who is not.

Hopefully everyone remembers this and understands this when it comes to other characters like Jean Gray in Spider-man Brand New day. I don't understand how you can like characters like Kratos, like Vegeta, like Zuko and many others but hate Jean. It doesn't make any sense.
