I'm an Aussie in Australia, I recently attended an information day from a large ram producer of composite rams for prime lamb producers. Not Australian Whites but what I wanted to say is one of the speakers was from a market data group. When they talked about the USA protein market and listed the amounts of each protein that was consumed per year, lamb (sheep meat) was just 1%. That is next to nothing!!! What he said is there is HUGE potential for both USA and Australian imports to increase the consumption of lamb. Just to double it to 2%

We run a 50 sheep production: Dorper x katahdin. We have been very interested in the Australian whites. Would love to start converting our heard. Connecting with AW producers would be very helpful. Thanks.

Nobody hates them, LOL. People are just questioning whether Australian White embryo's being sent here are actually as low-input, forage-based sheep they’re marketed to be...Any time Tattykeel posts sheep, they’re standing next to grain feeders and look like they’ve been bleached and washed. I’m not sorry, but that’s not what sheep genuinely running on pasture usually look like.

I’ll give credit to this Australian White Association: the marketing is good. But until these sheep are consistently proven in true forage-based programs and tougher environments, people are going to question the “low-input” claim.

And when buyers question why embryo lambs aren’t meeting THE breed standard, telling them to just buy more embryos doesn’t solve the problem...

There’s a reason another Australian White association was formed. People can argue about why, but the disagreement clearly exists for a plethora of valid reasons
