  I was 8 years old when Ike won the 1950 Presidential election. I remember saying to my mother that it would be strange saying “President Eisenhower” instead of President Truman! And I remember President Truman going to Congress and requesting $18 Billion to pay for fighting in Korea. I &nbsp;wasn’t old enough to appreciate what a huge sum that was (about $240 Billion today). My Dad struggled to explain to an eight year old. <br>Even though I clearly remembered things from 1944 and 1945 that happened around our home, I have no recall of FDR. But just a few years later I was think that it would seem strange not to think about the man who replaced FDR.

  Ike did the same thing at JFK’s inauguration. Ike obviously had to get in the limo, but he never spoke one word to JFK. Seems quite childish for a man who had accomplished so much.

  Hmmm what does a story like this prove. &nbsp;Ike was a pretty popular President and did some good things and so did Truman. &nbsp;Can&apos;t change that.

  In Eisenhower&apos;s farewell address, he warned the country to beware &nbsp;of the &quot;military-industrial complex.&quot; &nbsp;Jack Northrop&apos;s case with the YB-49 Flying Wing, was unfolding during Truman&apos;s second term in office. &nbsp;It was clear that the flying wing was the far superior design for range and payload. &nbsp; Early one, Northrop was visited by Truman&apos;s Secretary of War/Defense and told Northrop that he had to sell out the ownership of his company, which held the rights to the Flying Wing to Convair. &nbsp; Northrop would be out of the company but he&apos;d be incredibly wealthy. &nbsp;He refused. The project was cancelled. Word got out of the extortion. &nbsp;It&apos;s not such a leap to believe that this is what offended Eisenhower. &nbsp;It was a betrayal of the country and the Air Force that protected the country.
