I think your point about Lara not making this a singing competition is spot on, as she has shown this professionalism in several of her collaborations, one in particular with Laura Pausini. I also think that is part of what David Foster meant when he said the best person in the world to sing it with is Lara Fabian, not only because she is the best singer, but because of her professionalism and respect for the song and her singing partner as well.

Melissa seemed spellbound by the performance 😂. Yes, their harmony is magical—like blending butter and chocolate. But you hit the nail on the head: Lara held back a little to let the song shine. That is what she does every time, in every duet, unless she is performing alongside another powerhouse performer (look at her duets with Johnny Hallyday or Florent Pagny). She let Bolton provide the structure of the masterpiece while she added color to the canvas. She was the one who brought the performance to life, making eye contact with her partner and staying perfectly in tune with him. Lara is not just a great voice; she is a brilliant, versatile artist capable of adapting to anyone and anything. And she is generous, always focused on sharing the moment. Now you know why she is one of the greatest singers of all time.

Two complementary voices, and Lara's capacity to meld with the other ( selfless intelligence), not to mention her fabulous voice and clear diction, makes this version really memorable!

What’s incredible is Lara’s ability to adapt her voice and vocal range to match those of the other singer when she’s performing a duet.
In this song, she sings a whole tone lower than usual; you can hear this in the lower notes as well as the higher ones, yet she still sounds perfect throughout.

The pianist that introduces them is the legendary David Foster who composed The Prayer and so many other legendary hits.

The event in Las Vegas was built around him and all the performers were invited by him.

He said introducing Lara to another song in the same event : "I’m gonna introduce you to someone…

It’s gonna blow your mind !

Her voice, well, I can only describe it as heavenly.

When she burst onto the scene, we couldn’t believe what we were hearing, it was a voice like from another planet or something!

She made her mark here and then she conquered Europe where she has lived for most of her life.

I’m so fortunate to live in a world of great voices but believe me this voice is at the top of the heap of great voices. (…)

Wait til you hear this woman sing.

Please welcome … Lara Fabian!"

David is canadian as Lara and he produced her for a rendition of the Canadian National Anthem, probably one of the best ever.

Michael Bolton also is an absolute fan of Lara. He said after this event:

« Lara has recorded with me a duet, The Prayer, that David Foster wrote and produced. She flew in miraculously through Paris, strikes, flights delays and all hours of travel, to arrive just in time to perform with me at the David Foster and Friends event.

Besides being an absolutely beautiful woman and one of the most warmest sincere people I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet, Lara has been blessed with a phenomenal voice and spirit that makes her clearly one of the wonders of the world.

She sings from the deeper part of her heart with divine tones, and whenever she wants such power, she takes flight and elevates everyone watching and listening.

Seal and I stuck up to the side of the stage to watch her sing "Caruso" and were both blown away, as was the audience. »

Sup Zack? At this DVD, David Foster introduced her as "The voice that is on the top of the heap in the world" and he also said: “She flew from Russia, where she had just performed a huge concert only a few hours ago. She came straight to L.A., and she is now here to sing for us. She had no time to rest or rehearse after a 12-hour flight.” They didn’t practice together either. Lara had just flown from Moscow, directly after her concert, straight to L.A., and then started singing with him. She is such a professional and so confident. You may noticed that while Michael Bolton looked a bit nervous because he isn't fluent in Italian, then he was very worried in focusing on the lyrics on the screen in front of them, while Lara was flying comfortable as a bird since she's fluent both in Italian and English. We all know that Lara could easily outshine him with her vocal range, but she's always so humble and let her partner shines on stage, always. She also sang another song that night, an Italian song called “Caruso", it was marvellous. Lara lived in Italy from the age of 0 to 6.
Fun facts 1: Both Seal and Michael Bolton wrote on their Twitter accounts that night that they had been talking backstage when they heard Lara start singing “Caruso.” They immediately ran to watch her from behind the curtains. Seal said they were completely hypnotized.
Fun facts 2: Take a look at the backing vocalist just before Lara and Michael’s final belted note. She starts clapping her hands! Even the backing vocalists got excited about that note and the whole performance. 😍
