My favorite part is that the sheriff could have been written off a cartoonishly evil corrupt cop, but no, he was a loyal friend throughout the entire film.

The ending of this movie haunted me as a kid. Even though Joanna and her lover deserved what they got, that's still a horrific way to die. But hey. She got Cort and the money. Just not in the way she wanted. Poetic irony. Such an underrated gem of a movie. Used to watch it all the time on cable.

No one is mentioning the sheriff here I thought he will also be that friend who is after his friend’s money, but no. He also deserves the recognition for not giving up on Clint’s case even though he did not solved it lmao. And the fact that he respect his friend’s decision at the end, makes me appreciate him more.

she’s such a good actress; she said she writes journals as her character when she is filming to help her get into character. so unique !

My heart cried for Clint, because he truly loved his wife. To be buried alive and know your spouse tried to kill you, psychological horror.

It's funny how an animal is actually more loyal than Clint's wife 🤭

Burying the money was so incredibly stupid of him.

The level of coldness that Ms. Leigh shows with her character is capped off when we learn that she had an abortion just to spite her husband and continue her affair. Cold 💓

I'm an embalmer in training, I've worked on a few cases. I can not tell you how horrified I was when they were about to work on him. I knew it wouldn't happen because the movie needs to go on but I have chills to what could've happened. He would've bled out if he was lucky, but if he didn't bleed out fast enough... Oof.
