  Firefly did noy 'fail the first time out' it was sabotaged by Fox from the outset. It didn't fail; it was stabbed in the back by its own studio from the outset.

  I would prefer the softer ending, but Firefly was not a soft story.  The ending we got felt real.  😮‍💨

  Firefly and Serenity was awesome. &nbsp;It is sad that they weren&apos;t able to get a fair shake, but from what they did to make the film, everyone involved on both projects deserve a lot of respect and gratitude. &nbsp;they accomplished so much with so little. &nbsp;I will simply say Thank you to everyone involved with the creation of both projects.

  Ron Glass was terminally ill, and knew it, so he couldn&apos;t commit to more films.<br><br>It was my read all along that the movie was an amalgum of what was planned if the show had lasted longer.<br><br>In the later graphic novel, some of Wash&apos;s friends are gathered in a bar, drinking to his memory and telling various stories about him. &nbsp;At the end, a very obviously pregnant Zoe makes an appearance.

  Fillion had actually taken the original blueprints after &apos;Firefly&apos; was cancelled. He&apos;d forgotten but found them in a closet a year after the movie was filmed.<br>Oops!

  The hard ending was better. It gives it more grit and depth to show sacrifice and pain to expose the cruelty and amorality of the corrupt core government the common throwaway people end up paying, especially in the death of two beloved characters. It also further convinces the audience in the final stand and River’s final fight that there was ONLY one outcome, they (core government) loose or crew dies.

  I still want a prequel movie or TV series showing Shepherd Book&apos;s past life. I know there was a graphic novel but I think it would make for a fantastic series.
