Whatever your age, I'd be interested to know how you deliver your bowl — upright, moving or fixed — and why it works for you.

And if you've made a major change to your delivery after years of bowling another way, did it improve your game?

I'll be sharing my progress with the new delivery in future videos, so let's see whether the theory actually works!

Nice to see you back. Age caught up with my knees when I hit 80 last year and I couldn’t deliver my bowl with a forward step as I have for years. I only bowl indoors now which certainly helps because the delivery weight is less than required for outdoor bowling. I can’t manage your knee position so I,ve dropped to a crouch stance. The delivery depends entirely on my arm swing with no body weight in the shot. I have more of a push than a swing but I’ve found this to be very adaptable once I find my green. I’m reasonably accurate on short ends and I can still put the bowl in the ditch on a long jack! The one thing I can’t do is fire, but it’s a small price to pay. Regards, Charles.

Cheers Richard. Bowling arms are a popular option in Australia, helping keep bowlers in the game as the years roll by. Are they used in the UK at all?

Hi, Richard, I love your channel which is so informative and inspiring. In regards to the drastic change of delivery, I believe it is extremely difficult and actually your knees get hurt as you lower down with a lot body weight to that knee. Would you consider to use the bowling arm that you can still keep your upright stance which avoid drastic change in your deliveries?

Richard I watch all your videos, can I make a suggestion? the forward movement can be replaced (to a degree) with a squatting movement, as you go down, you start your backswing.. it does work but you will need practice.. Steve.

I have found as I am coming into my 3rd year of bowling I am finding if I crouch low and bowl I have a bit more control over the bowl. Low and slow.

Thanks for the video. I'm new to your channel and bowling, Crown Green bowls in particular. Although I think your ideas are great. Some of the points you made particularly around the 4 minute mark are very helpful in understanding where I'm going wrong with my delivery. I totally agree with what you're saying and I am going to conciously practice these points. It's all about timing and stability. Cheers.
