  Kai doesn’t have an eye for fashion. Nobody sees his fits and want to recreate them. He dresses very Caribbean, colorful, and trendy.

  I’m utterly flabbergasted because I’m also an upcoming fashion designer, I told people give me 20 years MINIMUM before they could expect to see any “big moves” because this takes time it doesn’t matter who you are, there’s a reason why you don’t see many famous fashion designers under age 30 it’s not because they don’t exist it’s because it takes time to perfect this craft, years of skill mastery. That’s how luxury works. If you don’t care about quality fast fashion it is but it’s not the same as calling yourself a “fashion designer”.  9 months of sewing won’t cut it, it’s a slap in the face to those of us who are actually very familiar with this industry

  I agree mostly but I think you’re missing a few things. Kai tried to brand himself and believe that he’s an underdog while never actually allowing himself to be an underdog and that’s why he’s been seen as performative. A fakely distressed notebook, repeated statements about “trying to break into fashion”. Even showing himself as undereducated through the reading thing and being transparent in his effort to learn, though most likely genuine never accounted for the image of the privilege of his connections and unlimited resources. You are right that him not filming everything would have helped his image but I believe that it has nothing to do with the perspective of talent or hard work. It’s that it would have shown real vulnerability. Not once through the whole journey has he been vulnerable. He is absurdly rich and the thing he’s trying say make him vulnerable of like the “I’m trying to break into fashion” is bs because we’ve seen how easy it was for him to get a show collection meet with top designers and stylist. He is the system and he doesn’t believe it. The only possible way for him to be seen as real or vulnerable would be to throw away the streaming fans. he knows that which is why he made the im quiting streaming vid. But he’s one foot in one foot out his content creator persona by continuing to be a feed the streaming fans through ig and youtube. He is still a content creator. In order to be seen as a designer he has to actually commit and go off the grid and give up a large part of the success that he built. Kai really pisses me off honestly. It’s a world I’m in but the landscape and world of fashion/high art is a bunch of out of touch rich people that prey on artists and the idea of victimizing artists. And I’m gonna be honest Kai is part of that but he doesn’t know it.

  No offense but 9 months is not that much time to go from 0 to fashion week. I appreciate some of what he did but much more than that like going to actual design school doing an internship etc would make me take him more seriously

  No matter how much money you have FASHION is the HARDEST and most HUMBLING, RUTHLESS field to get into. Even if you're richer than everyone in the room, that one persons criticism or disapproval can ruin your whole career. Fashion is so elite, money couldn't even get you in. Look at how they treated Jeff Bezos wife, lol, even being behind Ana couldn't get her a good positioning in fashion. I love it! I think it's the only form or art left that being a nepo baby or billionaire can't give you a leg up. Mary Kate and Ashley literally had to become a shell of themselves to be in the fashion seen.
