Thank you so much. Making sure I educate myself before getting someone to build my home in Australia. Sadly no one can be trusted these days.

My house has been an interesting building science project for me. I have a raised ranch in Northern VT, if you put a piece of Rockwool insulation in the 2x6 wood wall with nothing to air seal it from the inside, the plywood will get condensation on it in winter. However if you put a piece in the 2x4 wall against the block below it nothing happens behind the insulation. The concrete floors and cmu half walls have been painted with dry lock.

This is the best explanation I’ve seen so far for how to handle a potentially damp cinder block wall foundation in an older home. Thanks. Subscribed!

Man im nothing but a dumb tile guy. The deeper i get into learning more the more confused i get 😂 im in miami so as yiu could imagine the humidity heres crazy. We're seeing lots of problems with just about every waterproofing we're using these days. So im trying better to understand how water and vapor acts in our situation that is. Foam boards are getting eaten up by bugs after 28 years off and on in the trade i still run cement board. Of course for some time now ive been waterproofing it but that as well creates issues in certain applications like stone where the water tends to sit in the stone as youve explained in another video. Not to mention how it sits on the thinsets risking the bond. Im convinced theres yet to be a better system the mud walls where the water is soaked into the wall then properly drained. Ive torn out 80 year old bathrooms still holding up and the wires rusted to hell studs are rotten out etc. Id love to see your take on this situation for us here in South Florida. Everyone's attitude around here is basically not my fault. So before i go and destroy someones home im digging deeper into more information about the structures etc. Even waterproofing creates the issue where the water vapors run from the showers and start to eat away at drywall, ceilings etc. I see it all the time. We're told this that by one froup then the other group says another. Its all shit no ones communicating with the next guys.

Thank you for all the great videos man so far i have learned a ton tho.

Dude! Thank you so much. I’ve been needing to insulate my concrete block basement walls and have been trying to educate myself before diving into it. You explained this perfectly. I had everything right minus the dimple mat which I will for sure be using!

It would be interesting to see how you would insulate and control moisture in a shipping container house. I know it’s a bit off topic but it’s not an easy one.

Thoughts on using Insofast as both insulation and a capillary break since it has channels on the back?
