So which is better? Louisiana or Maine? Indeed, THIS WAS MY LONGEST COMPARED VIDEO YET. What the heck?
A shout out to Newsreels, the sponsor of this video. Honestly, it's one of my favorite sponsors yet. They've been terrific to work with.
Download Newsreels for free here: https://get.newsreels.app/xU9P/mrbeat

Also, thanks to @Atun-Shei for joining me for this video. I've heard a tongue-in-cheek legend that the lobsters in Maine and the Maritimes missed the Acadians, so they followed them down south, but by the time they reached Louisiana they'd lost a lot of weight. And that's where crawfish come from.

As a Mainer, I appreciate... someone even mentioning Maine in a non-negative light.

I know that Maine is also one of the states with the strongest habit of electing independent candidates. They have an independent Senator, who is the former independent governor, and have six independent members of the state legislature, which has to be some kind of record.

The two states with the most French speaking households. Thank you Geography King for teaching me that one.

Live in Maine and even I forgot it exists. Thank you for highlighting our beautiful state!

Problem: We're not called Cajuns up here in Maine. We're still Acadian.

Also, couldn't help but notice that you left out the most fun part about the Great Acadian Deportation: After making us leave, the British brought some of us back because they didn't know how to work our fields.

SNL has a couple funny skits called "Maine Justice" where its a court full of Louisianan's living now in Maine...doling out justice. Thought those skits were just a random concept but now I see the linkage between the two states!

The history here is fascinating. Recently I’ve been looking more into the colonisation of the Americas up until the American Revolution, and this helps a ton!

I moved from Louisiana to Maine when I was 16 and I've been in Maine for 20 years. Both taught me bad habits and both gave me great memories.

I live in Maine and sometimes it feels like a separate country. At the end I was hoping you were going to talk about Moosehead Lake a little bit too because it's a hidden gem. Fun fact: I'm part of the Penobscot tribe too. Love your videos Mr. Beat!
