  I read an article once that included the washing machine as one of the most important inventions of the 20th century, which very few people think about.  It allowed women (mostly) to get an education, teach their children, and learn a multitude of skills rather than the time-consuming task of hand-washing clothes.  Side note: I also really enjoyed the screw episode.

  I would have to argue that grammar is the most important tool humanity has ever created. The better we can store and share information the more complicated tools we can make.

  Fun Fact: one of the engineers that worked on the Apollo 10 lunar module is a regular weekly volunteer in the museum lab I run. Not only that, every year during &quot;Astronomy Day&apos;s&quot; I set him up as our special guest and people from all over visit to chat with him specifically. It&apos;s amazing, and such a cool way to learn engineering and electronics.
