Was it really necessary to perform the crucifixion tests so close to a cliff drop???

  • @ianharman9499 · 9 days ago

I think there was two types of crucifixion: nails through: (1) palm of the hand (popularised in Renaissance paintings and (2) through the wrist as per the Shroud of Turin

One thing l don't understand? When they put the guy face down on the X, the X was in front of his body, naturally, however, when they raised him up the X was behind his body? How is that possible?Edit: l assume that in reality they would have nailed one hand to the back of the pole, then the pole would have gone down the back on the victim and they would then have nailed the opposite ankle to the pole and repeated that process on the other hand. In that way they may not have needed to tie the centre of the posts together because the victim's own body weight would have acted like a brace.

If the Shroud of Turin is the actual burial cloth of Christ, I'd expect a bloody X
configuration would show blood stains from 2 nails through the feet, rather than one. It may be mass crucifixions used the X, but the height of a T shaped cross may have been used to prove a point. As the Bible mention only 3 were crucified, seems to me, the Romans wanted to make a statement.

The traditional image of a cross with an extended vertical piece above the crossbar is very likely incorrect. That shape was very rare, and the much more likely shape was the "Tau" cross, shaped like the letter T.

Ironic, but, I believe, this Hershkovitz guy not only has "The ONLY" hand with a crucifixion nail in it, BUT the only Heel-bone with a crucifixion nail in it AND the 2 nails from Caiaphas' ossuary box, that may be the nails from Jesus crucifixion. Amazing how he happened to have ALL of those! The ONLY ONES! If they wrapped the arms around the back of the cross beam, they could also nail it in the back of the hand that way, so face down on the cross wouldn't necessarily be the only way. Also, in the Bible it says Jesus LOOKED at John and said "behold your mother". If he's face down on the cross, would be pretty hard to look at John & also Jesus' mother and talk to them, IMHO. Another thing, the Centurion put the spear in the front of Jesus up under his ribs & punctured his lung. Jesus said look at my side, not my back to see the puncture. The Staurogram from the first century shown with a T and a P over the top of it, shows, basically the "cross" we all consider the one Jesus was hung on. Also, the 1-3 century Alexamenos Graffiti shows a mocking picture of a Donkey on a cross that looks just like the cross we use today. Those are WAY Early depictions of what They thought the cross was. Seems they would have a more than good idea what it looked like.

Just because this "last king" was crucified through the outside of the palm of his hands does not mean the same was done to our Lord & Savior Jesus. The documentary does say the Roman's crucified in many ways till they perfected the method. Besides, we have the photographic evidence of the Shroud of Turin, which has since been proven to be very real & accurate to 1st century - showing wounds through the wrists. I do believe in the Shroud as belonging to my Lord Jesus. Also, this documentary crucifixion of the last Israeli king was dated to 33 years before the birth of Christ. That's interesting! But not at all proof of how our Lord Jesus was crucified. Also interesting is the fact that the very people who crucified our Christ also became the "Catholic" religion. I personally do not believe in a human Pope, being the representative of Christ or that it is Holy. It's satanic - & the head of the many forms of Satanism, including the Illuminati, Freemasonry & Scientology.
