  The best way to understand why the tram intro was so impressive at the time, in my opinion, is to play Half-Life right after Quake and Quake 2. Quake 1 cared so little about story that it's left ambiguous whether or not Quake is a person, a place, or an object. Quake 2 cared about the story only in creating context for cool level set-pieces. Those 2 game out in 1996 and 1997 respectively, so imagine your average gamer in 1998 opening up this new Quake total-conversion mod published by Sierra, and going through the first half-hour with no combat whatsoever, just worldbuilding. They really were pushing the medium forward with something as (seemingly) simple as voice acting.

  I remember hearing a guy tell a story about how he was at a comedy club of some kind and heard the voice of Dr Kleiner coming from behind him, and he thought he was losing his mind until he turned around and saw the voice actor was RIGHT BEHIND HIM.

  One thing about Gordon being 27 and looking wrinkly was it was the 90s. Back then you either looked good or ugly cause cigarettes were so common and aged you fast. Nowadays being 27 you&apos;re good lol<br><br>At least that&apos;s the lore James from Deadlock tells me lmao

So the flavoring in artificial banana foods comes from the chemical isoamyl acetate, which is found in higher concentrations in the cultivar Gros Michel, which up until the &apos;50s was one of the main types of bananas grown. However, a fungus ripped through the Gros Michel population causing them to be replaced with other cultivars such as Cavendish, which have a little less isoamyl acetate flavoring. Gros Michel bananas are not extinct, they are just not commercially viable these days because they are still super susceptible to the same fungus that wiped them out in the 50s. I learned this because I wanted to google the funny Balatro bananas btw
