  Good list. I have lived in Thailand for 15 years on Koh Samui and can confirm most of these. A few things I would add from the islands specifically. Koh Samui gets overlooked in favor of Phuket but it has a real community feel without the mass tourism chaos. The south coast and jungle interior are where the island really comes alive. Most tourists never leave Chaweng and miss everything that makes Samui special. For food, skip the beachfront tourist restaurants. Si Khao night market has the best street food on Samui. Fisherman&apos;s Village in Bophut on Friday evening is worth rearranging your schedule for. Ang Thong Marine Park is the standout day trip from the island, 42 islands you can kayak through. Take the speedboat option, not the slow boats. One thing nobody mentions about Thailand: the wellness scene has evolved massively. Beyond the luxury spas, there are now real breathwork and cold exposure experiences in places like Samui and Koh Phangan. If you are looking for something beyond temples and beaches, that side of Thailand is worth exploring.

  First thing once you landed in that country. is drink a bottled water . Go get them at 7-11 or market . Prepare and build your immune for local bacteria.

  My travel tip would be to buy hotels online. They&apos;re definitely cheaper than paying in person. Also you should rent a motorcycle or moped instead of taking taxis or buses or trains. They&apos;re way quicker than cars because you can maneuver through traffic and you don&apos;t have to wait for taxis. In the long run it&apos;s actually cheaper as well

  I lived in Thailand from age 22 to 32.5 (2008-2018) and Thailand has changed a lot since then. When I first moved there, the streets felt local and the city moved at its own pace. Now there are more vendors from Bangladesh and South Asia who speak some English and the overall crowd feels different. There is more low level crime and more people looking to take advantage of tourists.<br><br>What hits me most is how content creators have taken over. Everything is filmed. Everything is turned into a video. There is over saturation everywhere you go. Prices that were once normal have doubled because people know tourists will pay. There is more greed now and a heavy reliance on tourism that changed the soul of the place.<br><br>I am grateful I lived there before all of this. Bangkok had a feeling then that you cannot recreate now. A lot of places are not fun in the same way anymore.

  Never taken me that long to leave Thailand. 4 - 5 visits per year 15 years of travelling there

  I would argue that the Grab app is better for Bangkok, since the traffic is really bad here the price it states is generally the price it states (unless your taking a toll road than the driver might ask if you want to take the toll road and will expect you to pay the toll too (this is why it&apos;s good to always keep small bills handy)). I find that bolt when stuck in traffic has a meter which continuously ticks up so even if it says that your ride is gonna be 60 bhat if you hit a particularly bad stretch of traffic it can be more expensive. I would keep both apps but use Grab primarily in the more crowded cities since it&apos;s less effected by traffic. Bolt can be good to have in areas where Grab is less popular.<br>P.S this is based on 2025 obversions.

  Another good tip is get the ham and cheese sandwich in the cold aisle at the 7-Eleven! They toast it up for you and it is something that I eat every single day and almost every time I go to the 7-Eleven. They&apos;re so freaking good!
