I'm a lifelong Bournemouth resident and I remember the trolley buses. It's a great shame we lost the trams, let alone the trolley buses. Now we've got the awful "More" buses that are sooo slow to get you anywhere. great archive film.... very interesting indeed.

I went to Bournemouth on holiday in 1961 when I was 11 at which time the trolleys in my part of London had gone. I was excited to see the yellow trolleys with their dark brown interiors and double doors and stairs. We traveled on them to the square and to Christchurch. Happy days.

I lived in Ensbury Park from 1947 to 1957. We lived in one of four council houses in Cove Road, and walked down Furzebank Lane to Columbia Road to catch the trolley to the Square.
We used the trolley buses a lot in that period. Very sad to hear they finished in 1968.
Living in semi-retirement in Picton, South Island, New Zealand

I visited Bornemouth in 1969. The last holiday I went away with my parents. We rode the trolleybus to Christchurch where we watched the turntable in action. I have a photo somewhere.
Fest forward to 2022, I visited Bournemouth again with a lady friend. We visited Christchurch where I tried to find the site of the turntable as it is now a listed artifact. After a few enquiries, we eventually found it but it's in a locked gated private yard but can just be seen. The area has been totally rebuilt.
