  My brother was a mess hall cook on a base at Khost Afghanistan and a group of three Delta Operators arrived after a very tough event...they were dirty, bloody..all of it. My brother said they were so reserved and polite...they went to the back door of the mess hall and told my brother they knew they were too dirty to go into HIS mess hall and asked if he could spare a couple sandwiches out the door for them. My brother said he almost broke down over that...he told them he would personally invite/escort them into his mess hall and he gave them the best meal he could. He said he&apos;d never forget that. He said they were the &quot;real deal&quot; all the way.

  To be clear, a &quot;Delta Force Operator&quot; didn&apos;t get kicked out of Ranger Regiment. &nbsp;A young soldier who made a mistake with silly repercussions got kicked out.

  I too got an alcohol related incident while in SF got sent to regular army felt like such a shitbag. Then got sent to Iraq with them ended up getting hit by an IED that ended my career. Now I have a great job and beautiful family so everything happens for a reason

  One of my favorite leaders of all time was kicked out of regiment for a dui after multiple deployments and sent down to the regular degular army. Dude was better, faster, stronger, smarter and deadlier than everyone and he knew it. When he talked about tactics or planning everyone regardless of rank shit up and listened. An absolute legend of a man gone too soon.

  This is the exact conversation I&apos;ve had hundreds of times! &nbsp;I tell people I graduated Ranger school and they say, &quot;Oh, you&apos;re a Ranger!&quot; &nbsp;I then proceed to tell them, no, I&apos;m Ranger qualified and I get the &apos;deer in the headlight look&apos;. &nbsp;If you&apos;re not from Battalion and go to Ranger school, the &apos;Bat Boys&apos; will explain the difference real quick and for good reason. &nbsp;The infantry taught me you don&apos;t claim something you didn&apos;t earn; I earned the tab, but I was never a Ranger. &nbsp;This is especially true when you have a first sergeant with a 3rd Bat combat scroll from Panama. &nbsp;This gent explained it perfectly!

  As a “qualified” guy he explained it perfectly. I never told anyone I was a ranger because I was never in regiment. I was attached to a scout platoon from 2nd battalion for a deployment but never assigned. Big difference.

  I was just a regular soldier but I cannot imagine him being kicked out of Ranger Battalion and having to remain there and seeing RANGERS everywhere. &nbsp;Great perseverance and heart on his part.
