As a raped victim it was hard for me to watch the movie. However I wish some of the people in the comment section could be more respectful and stop blaming the raped victims because NO means NO. Whether u left ur door unlocked or wore mini skirt doesn’t mean that anyone has the right to violate you sexually. I’m speaking from an experience once this damage is done to you it ruins your life and relationships. I hope yall are safe ❤

After some research, I found out the real perpetrator this movie was about is John Charles Whipple who committed five against women over a 6 week time period from April to May 1989. John Whipple was a construction worker who'd committed these assaults in apartment complexes throughout Bolingbrook; Joliet; and Crest Hill Illinois. But, these were only the initial crimes: John Whipple moved to Gwinnit County Georgia and resumed a series of similar crimes in September 1989. This was where he ultimately ended up getting arrested.

The part about the brown Chicago Bears t shirt in the movie is somewhat accurate. One of the victims in GA said the attacker was wearing a brown Chicago Bears t-shirt during the assault. John's GF happened to mention that John owned 2 of them when she spoke with Georgia Investigators. Her statement is what helped GA investigators link John to the assaults in IL.

Other parts of the movie were accurate as well such as him tying up the victims; wearing a ski mask; etc. During the real crimes, though, young children had been present at 3 of the crime scenes! He is currently serving 3 life terms for the assaults in IL.

Google the guy's full name and Joliet, IL to access more information about this creep. There's an article from the Chicago Tribune detailing what I described above and more.

6:58 How horrible! I can't believe she was just leaving for work... something everyone does everyday...and she gets attacked in broad daylight like that! I mean, that could happen to anyone...you open up your door and there's a monster standing there! Thank goodness her neighbor heard her.

Why the heck is his wife awaiting his release. Is she nuts. I'd stay as far away as possible from the sick beast. I'd be so embarrassed to even think I was married to such a beast. I feel for his 2 daughters. Growing up knowing their dad did such horrendous tortures to these women.

People victim blaming is worse than the crime itself. First of all this movie is 33 years old, it was a different time. Yes bad things happened but we weren't as aware or vigilant about safety as we are now. They also appear to live in a low crime and close knit community setting, that would give most people a sense of security. The first incident didn't seem to be broadcast and people were unaware. The second incident is where people started to take notice. Even then people would probably still think "it won't happen to me." Regardless it isn't their fault, the fault and blame lies solely with the perpetrator.

So strangers just walk into someones house. Very rude. Never get a male cop to talk to a rape victim, they are too insensitive and nasty. Self-defence classes would be better than mace and a whistle. These are useless when he grabs from behind.

I thought I had the perpetrator "pegged" right from the beginning after the first victim mentioned his intense, blue eyes. Boy was I wrong! It definitely kept me guessing until the end.

Great movie. Watching it for the second time, the first time I watched it was maybe four years ago.
