> excited to hear an expert talking enthusiastically about FPGA
> they end up talking about Claude Code and linkedin-tier B's
I fukkin hate this timeline

Altium Designer dropped FPGA and Nanoboard development years ago. 😮

I tried to use AI with my last project it didn't work out well it basically blew up the entire design and violated the timings.
It works to some degrees, again boilerplate code to get started or to understand the rough path.
I am experienced with VHDL and Verilog.
For the RTL where life matters I would not trust AI - to double check HDL it's okay but it still needs a real person to reason what's better and what not.
Also for HDL the cleanest design might not always be the best design. Sometimes it's just better to drive over a mountain rather than through a tunnel.
Looking at various older industrial machinery they are goldmines for FPGAs and FPGA applications, but nowadays several things can be made cycle accurate with Microchips too, but there might be other limitations. Also finding the right person for the job might not be the easiest job.

There is (soon) a new framework available that can generate a real digital twin (3D-VR) for industrial automation from a visual (noCode) editor and compile directly to the FPGA target. Transactional neural networks cast into silicon. 100% deterministic AI. The chatbot-AI does the modeling.

15:30 Always interesting to hear engineers appeal to the Overproduction of the Elites and claim that LLMs / “AI” will be a sorting mechanism to filter out the “oversupply” of people in their field, and how everyone who learns to use LLMs will be on the winning side of that population bottleneck. 😅

Working with fpgas is not for the layman. HDL is not like writing it's not python scripts. it will continue to be a niche area.
