Hey guys, wanted to put a comment out there because I've gotten a huge surge in views for this video that I released a month ago that I honestly wasn't really expecting. I think many of you came over here from my Red Plague review video and so I wanted to make a clarifying post.

First off, regardless of whether you liked it or not, thanks for taking the time to come here and comment on the video. Feedback is important and I am taking most of your comments as constructive criticism to improve content down the line.

Second: This channel is not really a review channel. This might be confusing because most of you are probably from the aforementioned Red Plague video, but most of my content on my channel has been successful runs of other challenges (though mostly Vintage Story so far). This one, was one I would consider a "fail" which I thought would be entertaining in its own way. And I think a lot of my comments in this video particularly can sound like I am constantly complaining, but that was not the intention. It was supposed to be more of a sarcastic humor, with feedback on my overall experience on the challenge as a whole. Sounds like it didn't really land, so it's something I need to work on. Also the video title seemed to have misled people that this was an ROTA review, and it wasn't. I made this before intending on making a Red Plague review. This was an unintentional coincidence of the naming being what it was, so I've added "challenge" to the end of the title. Apologies for that.

Third: How the challenges work - I go in with an understanding of the base game, and let my challenge rules twist it in another way. Often times these challenges involve mods, and I usually haven't used them all before doing the run. I test the mods beforehand in creative to make sure things are working but I don't go through the game with them. When I finally get to use something, you get to hear my honest first take on it. Should I run into something that interferes with the challenge in a way that makes it incomplete-able, I try to keep it as close to the challenge as I possibly can, but not in ways that will just delay the video and what it is about.

This leads to the controversial subject of this video: The Blossom. I understand that not all of my criticisms of the Blossom experience I had were of the Blossom itself, but some of it was due to vehicle framework, a dependency of the mod itself. Honestly, there's no way for me to know what is part the Blossom vs what is part of its dependency, and, this being the first modded vehicle I've ever used in subnautica, I wrongly assumed certain aspects were from the Blossom mod. That is a mistake that I will own, but I do think that my criticisms are still valid regardless of where the functionality originates. Semi-related, I knew about the mesmer requirement before even starting the challenge to make the sub. I had always intended to cheat that in because making the containment and just sitting in a room doesn't matter. I had everything I needed to hatch a mesmer, I just saved some time by not just sitting in a chair until it hatched.

The second part about me spawning things in - I just want to make it clear, I really did TRY to find things legitimately, within the confines of my challenge. But there comes to be a point where it's not worth sinking more time into something. In this run, I had spent approximately 6 hours searching for blossom related things (after I knew where to search) with no luck, and that is not including consulting comment sections and screenshots to find what I need. When you've invested so much extra time for something that should never have taken that long, there's no point in trying to still complete it in a half-legitimate way. I definitely could have made a scanner room, had it try to scan for Blossom pieces, and used power connectors to link solar panels to the scanner room for the energy required for the search. But what would that have really changed? I *might* have found the pieces and *might* have unlocked the upgrades for it in this way, or I *might* have not. Point is, I was going to use this vehicle either way, and I had what I needed material wise to make it. I saved myself a little time.

The only thing in this run that wasn't legitimate was spawning in the leviathan mesmer upgrade, because that requires to beat the game for it. I wanted to test out the functionality of the scanner before investing further time making the components since I had already spent so much extra time in making the vehicle itself. When I found that the scanning upgrades weren't good, that's when I decided to keep the cheated components for the remainder of the run with the full intention of not completing the challenge. It was just to see and review how this worked in conjunction with the rest of the game.

Anyway, I apologize if this video came off in ways that I had not intended. This was not meant to be a review of Return of the Ancients, nor a review of just the Blossom. It was supposed to be more talk about this particular challenge, and I ended up getting carried away with my blossom criticisms.

Moral of the story: nonsensical self-imposed restrictions are, in fact, nonsensical. Who would've thought.

The leveling feature is something all vehicle framework vehicles have, the authors would have to use a entirely new vehicle modding system for that

The Gargantuan leviathan mod, while really cool and I commend the work that has been put in for a mod, is a very good example of "too much of a good thing". it's so impoosibly colossal that it loses all fear factor for me, because what could you realistically do against it? it's not like you could outrun it or fight it. (also, a creature of that size giving you anything more than a passing glance is entirely unrealistic. It'd probably lose more energy than it would ever gain from eating you by just opening it's mouth)

Sisyphus pushing the boulder up that slope, until he finally reaches the top and realises that on the other side is an equally steep slope leading back down

Couple of critiques or food for thought that I hope you don't find too obnoxious:

Personally, I feel like if you have to use creative mode in order to obtain the Blossom, then you're already "breaking" some of the rules set in place anyway so you might as well just go ahead and build a scanner room and an alien containment thingy just so you can "do it the right way" to experience it for better review purposes.
Obviously, not being able to find the pieces in the first place is a pretty good indicator that it doesn't make sense, but I would have at least been curious as to what the pieces even looked like with the scanner room.

My initial thought was that the modded vehicles needed to use depth modules already in game unless they have custom frame work, but 600 meters is not a depth that is normally obtained by any other vehicle. So, I will say that the depth being 200 then 300 makes little sense if you have to go like 400 meters down to find the pieces in the first place. I also agree that them not being around all entrances to the Lost River is an oversight

To be fair it’s not just the blossom that is annoying to exit almost all modded subs do this also all modded subs have that weird repair glitch even when they can’t be repaired
