  The captain took possession of the map at the beginning of the trip cause she and Mr. Arrow knew from the beginning that the entire crew was shifty af and having Jim sleep with the rest of the crew means that they can sniff about his belongings

  This movie came out when I was 12. My sperm donor left when I was about 5, and this movie hit me so hard as one of the first visual media that showed a parent actively leaving. Not dying, not divorcing; just skipping out like what I had experienced. That flashback sequence with &quot;I&apos;m Still Here&quot; was so well done and still makes me cry to this day. This is one of my top 3 Disney movies, and it really deserves more hype than it gets. Jim was also one of my first animated movie crushes, so XD<br><br>You should definitely watch Muppet Treasure Island at some point. Tim Curry plays Long John Silver and is PERFECT.

  I saw the notif and I had to come in! This and Atlantis: The Lost Empire are like the most underrated Disney movies from around the same time — one of the best treasure island adaptations alongside the muppets one.<br><br>I’m so glad you had fun with treasure planet! I do super rec Atlantis for a sort of sibling adventure movie

  The RLS legacy - reference to the author of the book &apos;Treasure Island&apos;, Robert Lewis Stevenson. <br>Love the reference they also make to him in the violin playing, it&apos;s Scottish fiddle sounding, Stevenson came from Scotland.
