  I&apos;ve been a mortician for 20 years and picked up all kinds of hoarders who died trapped under all their stuff...usually very neglected older people

  Had an uncle that used to hoard. Every night before garbage at 3am I would put out 10 bags of trash. Put some by hus neighbors trash, across the street, in the car trunk and hauled it off to the dump. I had a good thing going on for 3 months straight. He started to notice because I started in the back yard and garage and it had finally cleared back there and I had reached the back porch. He was hoppin&apos; MAD! BIG MAD!

  My Mom and I are hoarders. I&apos;m grateful for these episodes showing how hard it is to get stuck and how hard it is to get out of this mindset. Thankfully our family never got as bad as those in these episodes. We both tend to hold onto things that we find value in even if we never use it. Now we have to have a large cleaning twice every year so we never get to the point of not having a comfortable place to live.

  I’m a professional cleaner in Australia and I had a friend who died in the house with mice, cats, a dog, rotten food, cat and dog poo and wee. It’s beyond sad.

  This show is ethically excellent. Absolutely no &quot;Dr. Phil with Shelley Duvall&quot; exploitation. Yes, the show airs dirty laundry for entertainment (and as education), but does so very, very carefully. First, they come into situations that are headed very south in any case. The producers don&apos;t include extremely vulnerable moments or cast negative light anywhere.<br><br>The professionals seem authentically interested in their hands-on work rather than being TV/internet stars. And it&apos;s obvious the show&apos;s staff keep tabs on these folks after production, and set them up well before leaving the property. I like the donation-advertising swaps they arrange with various companies; win-win.<br><br>I&apos;m pretty judgemental about media exploitation, but binge watching these episodes leaves me thinking very, very highly of this show. It really gives me hope, and that&apos;s hard to do in a media landscape that needs profits. Much praise.
