Lead. They took the lead out the gas and they bolted on a cat, then reduced the compression to deter detonation. Then they added a sensor to detect engine killing detonation (or a noisy lifter) which retarded the timing, further reducing power. But, take a deep breath. It was worth it.

Yeah, they wrecked an assload of mopar cop cars in the first two movies, but none driven by Gleason...Once again, I have no earthly idea where this channel gets its inforrmation. By the time I had seen these movies around age ten I could tell the difference between a Dodge and a Pontiac at a glance.

First off Chrysler never made a 79 Monoco. Second off Smokey and the Bandit uses Pontiacs.Even the main police cars. How bad is your information as so wrong.
