  This is a piece that I have been missing— humility. My ability to practice the presence of God has deepened with the focus of, “ be still, and know that I am God”, but it hasn’t always been a ready access for me. That’s not quite how I want to say it, but I’m not sure how to say it at the moment. What I do know is that humility is the ready, already/always access to stop what I am doing to “be still and know that I am God.” Humility has a distinct inner quality that goes beyond all thought and perception. I love the way Andrew Murray says it at the beginning of this book: “When God created the universe<br>it was with the one object of making the creature partaker of his perfection and blessedness<br>and so showing forth in it the glory of His love and wisdom and power. God wished to<br>reveal Himself in and through created beings by communicating to them as much of his own<br>goodness and glory as they were capable of receiving.”

  Through discovering humility in the way that Andrew Murray has powerfully distinguished it for us here, I realize that humility comes even before keeping the commandments. At 64 years old, I’m crystal clear that I can make my focus to “keep the commandments” and yet lack humility entirely, but when I put humility first I unavoidably keep the commandments. With keeping the commandments as my focus, I stumble, fall, and become discouraged. With humility as my focus, I have ready access to doing “all things through Christ, which strengtheneth me.” Actually I just realized that being “I can do all things through Christ, which strengtheneth me” is the essence of humility and vice versa.

  I think pride sneaks in and can do damage to those who want to believe they dont have a problem with pride. &nbsp;I am such a person

  The first time I listened to Andrew Murray’s, “Humility” you were the narrator. Your narration struck me as simple and humble. &nbsp;I’m coming back to listen in a second time and found your narration again to be the one I like best. Thank you.
