  I find it impossible to think being part of a royal family as a burden to be endured. They should go to the rat infested slums where ordinary people were forced to live

  Cecilia Bowes Lyon was creative, quiet, compassionate, and generous. A phenomenal and faithful woman indeed, living her life as she expected. That is power. <br>Modern women would be in disagreement, but she was exemplary of what a woman should be. Thank you.

  What a beautiful and wonderful story. I never knew this story. It would be a great historical movie. Even if she didn&apos;t have love it. Very interesting and worth more information on her.

  What an amazing life. Queen Elizabeth was shaped by this wonderful grandmother and her mother. &nbsp;She should have a statue for all she did if only so people understand why Queen Elizabeth was so strong for 70 years. As an American I was truly amazed by this piece of history. &nbsp;Thank you for taking the time and effort for completing this story of a most wonderful Lady.

  My understanding is that only “Officers” and aristocrats were accommodated in the such hospitals located in stately homes. The snootiness would not accommodate regular soldiers? The dreadful class system operated like a well oiled machine even in times of war.
