Not claiming basic tax reliefs makes me feel physically ill. We have lots of IMGs at our place and I will be in their earholes first thing Monday morning

I still think life insurance is only necessary if you have dependents. It feels like too high an opportunity cost to get it when you don't plan to have a family and no one relies on your pay. I would rather invest it and live that money behind.<br><br>Income protection is different - I have it and would highly recommend for all doctors! ASAP!

I don't know what I need to expect from a financial advisor and that is something which keeps me from seeking their advise (I already have income protection and life cover). They always ask for a percentage of your investments, but my understanding is that most people can do this themselves if they're up to doing a bit or reading and taking if from there. Maybe I'm wrong?

Rental property investors - with the way the survey worked, might most of the 18% be "accidental landlords" rather than doctors consciously buying a 2nd property specifically to rent?
