  I have been there and witnessed it. Though poor, they are remarkably clean, honest, polite, and kind. Their respectfulness and warmth defy every stereotype that links poverty with crime, illegal migration, or begging. I truly admire the people of Rwanda. While no nation is flawless, Rwandans work hard and carry themselves with dignity, never waiting for handouts, which sets them apart from West and Central Africans.

  Amazing that this transformation happened in front of our eyes in real time. Even Rwandan themselves are a little shocked at the pace. October 1, 1990. April 7, 1994. April 22, 2000. May 26, 2003. &nbsp;Some of the major turning points to remember.
