  Air to water for that two story building. Your single story is perfect for air to air. <br>Your ducted system would be out the way in the loft, with a percentage of fresh air on its return also. <br><br>With the absolute bonus of cooling in summer.

  I installed a heat pump June 2025 in Toronto. &nbsp;ATK 2 Ton 16 Seer &nbsp;and absolutely love it. Cools my house like no other AC because it controls the humidity in the house with my Ecobee thermostat. &nbsp;The A coil was installed on top of my Bryant 2 ton central furnace. This past winter was the ultimate test because it was so cold for 2 months straight. &nbsp;Jan and Feb &nbsp;was minus 20 to minus 30 Celsius and my house was warm. I never used the furnace since i installed the heat pump. Highly recommend it.

  With no existing Rads or pipework infrastructure in your bungalow Andrew, I would say an A2A system is your best bet. A single ducted unit in the loft with, if required, zone dampers for individual room temperature control. Or, multiple loft mounted ducted units to serve individual rooms. Ducted units are more expensive (kit &amp; labour to install) but are more discrete than an in room wall mounted unit which are much quicker &amp; cheaper to install. As you know you also get the benefit of summer cooling with an air to air system. Our A2A system came in very handy during the recent summer heat waves &amp; allowed us to get a good nights sleep without having to open any upstairs windows &amp; let any bugs or noise in. <br>New multi A2A systems from some manufacturers can now incorporate HW heating as well. If not then the other options are a simple electric immersion heater / tank (which you probably already have), Mixergy iHP Heat pump tank or, a SunAmp Thermino phase change thermal store which can be charged up overnight on cheap electric or during the day on excess solar. <br>If you had existing rads &amp; pipework installed it might be a different story but Air 2 Air would seem to be the most logical (&amp; probably cheaper) solution for you. <br>I still have a gas boiler &amp; rads but I&apos;m gradually changing to A2A systems. 3 out of 4 bedrooms &amp; our conservatory have wall mounted A2A units now. 30ft lounge, kitchen &amp; one remaining bedroom to go + the hot water to sort out. I&apos;m also changing my existing solar inverter &amp; batteries at some point for a larger system. The existing 3.6kWh inverter is just not big enough.

  Interesting series and nice to actually see people discussing the subject through the lens of lived experience. One thing that was mentioned and I find to be absolutely true is that if you go online researching heat pumps, you&apos;re invariably going to come across multiple people giving multiple opposing opinions and to the someone just casually researching the topic, they all sound plausible. &nbsp;Can be frustrating at times.
