It’s not about AI taking Software engineers job but it’s the people higher up thinking that AI will do a software engineers job.

I love the fact that titans of our industry, like Grady, have the exact opposite reaction to our (LinkedIn) armchair technologists who are spreading FUD w/o any real grounding on how things work.<br><br>Knowledge, especially historically-bound knowledge, produces pragmatic wisdom and calms the storm of insecurity with real insights.<br><br>We. Are. So. Early. Keep building!

This is one of the most clarity providing interviews in this AI hysterical time, thanks.

"Tools will change, technologies will change, but the fundamentals remain the same, and people having these skills can only soar higher because we're living in the most exciting time in the software engineering world, and that we are only limited by our own imagination". Thanks a lot Grady Booch for sharing your massive knowledge with us. God bless!

I have been having a difficult time embracing AI assisted coding my being passionate about programming. But this interview reminds me that systems thinking and abstractions matter more to handle complexity. LLMs dont make it any easier and perhaps it makes it more difficult. There is an evolving crisis in comprehending generated code

It’s always refreshing to listen to these OGs. Gives you much greater perspective on how far we’ve come and how far we are yet to go.

Where he talks about why software engineering is indeed engineering in the beginning of the podcast is simply beautiful. I will transcribe it and distribute. Wise words from a man who is clearly in love with the craft.
