  Denmark, i was in an internship at Lindoe Shipyard in Odense when Magrethe II (she was one in a series of intermodal ships called the M class)was being build in 1988, and was 294 m. long and 32.2 m. width around 70000 brt. I know today she is medium sized, but in 1988, she was among the largest intermodal ships in the world.

  That maneuvering part is seriously fascinating—getting a massive oil tanker to slow down, turn, and stay stable on the water takes some incredible engineering. The scale of these ships is hard to appreciate until you see what’s happening behind the scenes.

  Quando abitavo a Venezia, già era impressionante vedere passare davanti casa a poche decine di metri le gigantesche navi da crociera Costa, Carnival, MSC.  la vista spariva completamente, la vibrazione sorda dei motori era la colonna sonora, guardavo questi alveari galleggianti e pensavo che mai sarei salito a bordo di un simile incubo. Convinzione rafforzata dopo avere visto il relitto della Costa Concordia adagiato sugli scogli dell'Isola del Giglio.

  I sailed on the Irving Primrose She was 340 meters long VLCC (DWT) of 300,955 tonnes built 1997. We regularly carried over 2 million barrels of crude. She was later renamed Tantramar, Cosmic Jewel, and CS Development. She was holed by the MT Severn in a collision off NB at Charlie Anchorage in Dec 2000. We experienced 75 knot winds at the time and extreme cold. I also sailed on the Irving Galloway,

  A body will float when it displaces a mass of water equal to or greater than its own mass. This means that if there is sufficient volume of ship underwater, it will stay afloat and keep everything above water in its place.

  Pues estando en Acapulco cuando fui de vacaciones, La zona costera Miguel Alemán, vi por primera vez un barco de pasajeros pero grandísimo grandísimo, y es lo más grande que hasta el momento yo he visto un barco, Este era un transatlántico, fue algo fantástico increíble
