  One thing that really stood out to me as I calculated along is that Patrick could really benefit from a more structured way of thinking. Material count first, totally agree, then identify the targets for both white and black. Just by doing those two things he would have been able to identify the key features of the position more quickly.<br><br>For example, in that puzzle with Qb4 one of the first things I noted was the loose knight and rook which led to me quickly identifying Qb4 as a candidate. Patrick spent very little of his time calculating variations which I think is partially because he had no idea where to begin.<br><br>Calculation is hard in general, but I really liked how you guided him through his thought process after the fact.
