Fighting game fans talk about Rollback netcode the way women talk about pockets on their dresses.

Giovanna does have a unique mechanic, it's just based around forgetting to use any meter. Which certainly fits her "Oh, right, I guess I could do that..." nature.

That line about Brynhildr Stance representing Leo’s desire to suppress his survivor’s guilt with his “unga bunga” bravado blew my mind. Great video as always.

Something to add about the music, which i think is bloody awesome.

Most of the themes have radical shifts in them, where the beat or even the style changes. Millia's theme goes all quiet, Zato becomes a fucking Queen song, so on and so on. But that shifts always happen way too far into the song to be heard during a normal fight. There is only one context, apart from listening to the soundtrack on Youtube, where you will hear that part of the themes.

The training room. As you mechanically learn your character, you also learn something about them, because you discover a part of their story you wouldn't experience in normal gameplay.

Daisuke is a fucking genius

I'm sad that almost no one (not even you) talk about the background stages. It's basically like taking the background stages of UMvC3, SF4 or even CvS1 (fighting games that all had amazing stages) but turning them into masterpieces.

I'm an ongoing engineer and every time I see the mechanical whale stage I'm mesmerized on how natural the movements of each fish looks like while still giving the illusion that there's only metal that moves mechanically. It doesn't even stop there, you can clearly see that the whale itself is basically a blimp, transporting people through the air and the fact that most of them even have certain body expressions, while only being a few pixels big, makes you realize how dedicated the art team for this game were and makes you appreciate the game even more.

On the subject of I-No's stance: She looks super unfocused and hyperactive in her stance in Xrd.

That's just not I-No. She's sadistic, domineering, trying to force her control over you.

I love how her eyes are hidden with the hat, but otherwise her stance in Strive just has infinitely more of a power behind her.

Daisuke's idea of making all songs be a "Yelling what's going inside my head" as Metal tracks was kinda genius...

Like Faust's swirl of grief, madness and self-hate, or Zato's inner thoughts being drowned by Eddie's parts, to sometimes rise up as a slow and dramatic power ballad...

Arcsys getting snubbed by gaming press and award shows for 9 years and counting while innovating in 3D animation on the same level as Hollywood studios like Pixar and Sony Pictures Animation is... honestly so on brand that I can't even complain, cause not seeing that coming would be on me.

I never expected leo to have a song all about his guilt and regret, but it works surprisingly well, to let him have his bombast but also show whats underneath. and yeah, I've always liked potemkin but more for him being a weird beefy goofball who can do a shitton of damage, but Armour Clad Faith really helps give him some weight of characterization behind just the silly

Leo's stance could also be interpreted as him just intentionally leaving himself open. Welcoming the opponent to take his life.
