  The not buying a house does not work in the UK as 90% of rents are higher than a mortgage cost. Also if you want to start a family you need a stable place to raise your children and with renting you can be kicked out within a few months notice and your whole life could be turned upside down.

  I worked hard, got myself a house and was pissed off for years. Now my mortgage is lower than rent. It's a patience game not quick money. You can't have money without sacrifice.

  The housing market is inflated and oversaturated with homes being on the market with astronomical price tags just stagnant for months. It is very clear that our generation will be likely one of the most devastating bubble pops in modern history. Seeking best possible ways to grow 250k into $1m+ and get a good house for retirement, I'm 54.

  My two recently married daughters are each buying a commercial unit in which they will use for their businesses ( one will be a dental clinic)… instead of buying a house - the house will come later when they have made enough money from their businesses.

  I bought a house! It's the best thing I ever did! It's launched my mindset in new directions! Remember that having your own space has profound phycological impact and can be life changing for some that dont live in a healthy environment

  We grew up very poor in Singapore. During childhood in the late 60s to 70s, I shared a mattress on the floor under the dining table with my sister. I now own 3 apartments. My 90 yr old mom is so proud.

  Bought my small house and now mortgage free. Paid into a pension since 21 yrs old and now retired at 55. Not huge monthly payment but life and no longer working was always my aim and debt free. Happy, very happy.

  My grandmother taught me hese things when i was young. She said 1)never get into debt and never use credit cards 2) split your income in five and put money away for a)expenses (food, shelter, clothing transportation) b) invest in a small bussiness not stocks c) a dream you have, sth you enjoy &nbsp;d) education or new skill you want to learn e) save for a goal, what are you saving for?<br>She was a great with money. But society and marketing tells you the opposite... that is why everybody is living in debt... or paycheck to paycheck

  Buying a house made me a millionaire. I had no savings and borrowed 50k to put a down payment on my very first house with an interest rate of 9% in 1998. I worked my butt off and paid off the loans in 7yrs. That same year I sold the house for 4X what I paid for it. I invested most of that cash and I moved to a Latin American country where I have lived really cheaply. Now that money has more than doubled and it’s more than enough to retire on.
