Oracle Bone Script and the Shang Dynasty: Oracle bone script is said to have been discovered in 1899 by the Qing Dynasty scholar Wang Yirong from dragon bones used as medicine, and was excavated in large quantities at Yinxu in Anyang, Henan Province, China. The existence of the Shang Dynasty was proven as the genealogy of successive Shang kings inscribed on the oracle bones largely coincides with the records in Sima Qian's *Records of the Grand Historian*, specifically the *Annals of Yin*. The oracle bones also contain records of solar and lunar eclipse observations, which are used as grounds for dating. The Xia Dynasty and the Erlitou Site The Erlitou site is a large Bronze Age site whose excavation began in 1959 near Luoyang, Henan Province, China. Its date is estimated to be between approximately 1900 and 1500 BC. Although palace foundations and bronze workshops have been identified, the absence of written records has led to differing views between Chinese and international academia regarding whether this site can be regarded as the capital of the legendary Xia Dynasty. The Sanxingdui Site and the Ancient Shu Civilization The Sanxingdui site is a Bronze Age civilization site discovered in Guanghan, Sichuan Province, China, in 1986. Artifacts of a unique style, such as giant bronze masks, bronze mythical beasts, and gold masks, were excavated there. It has been confirmed that many of the artifacts were intentionally damaged and burned before being buried in sacrificial pits. The bronze tree figures are discussed in connection with the myth of the sun-carrying bird in the *Shan Hai Jing*, while the masks with protruding eyes are linked to the legend of King Zhan Cong in the ancient Shu legends. From 2020 to 2021, six new sacrificial pits were additionally excavated, yielding thousands of artifacts.
