  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OR9SNMhg_DU&amp;t=195">3:15</a> Nah. I would prefer Mammy Two Shoes over that shitty, abusive owner that Tom had in the Gene Deitch era any day. I don’t give a shit how politically incorrect Mammy Two Shoes was, we could mention that all we want, but at least she was likeable and funny, hardworking, no-nonsense, had a good and charming voice actor, and had moments where she actually respected Tom, unlike that asshole owner, whose slapstick was not funny at all, mean-spirited, and just plain uncomfortable to watch. That man was without a doubt the worst owner that Tom has ever had, period.

  Ngl, while Mammy Two-Shoes was a walking stereotype, she was EASILY the best owner for Tom. Something about her referring to Tom as “Thomas” is just so endearing and sweet.

  I&apos;m pretty sure that if Spike saw Clint doing all this shit to Tom, it would not end well for him.<br><br>Clint would be beyond Clobbered in an instant.

  I was Facebook penpals with the late Gene Deitch. He said the reason for the strange decisions were due to a combination of his unfamiliarity with the franchise and attempting to implement his style from the UPA and Terrytoon years, as well as the limited budget restricting his creative vision. He had attempted to use the original Hanna-Barbera sound effects but because they were under contract from Screen Gems for television shows, the sounds were copyrighted by Hanna-Barbera Productions and was denied permission to use them. The only reason that he was able to do these shorts at all was because the characters were MGM-owned and with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer having hired him, he did at least visually remain faithful to the source material of the design of the characters. He was such a nice man and lived to be 96 when he passed away in 2020!

  I sort of love the Deitch era, they are all a fever dream, from the sound effects, to ‘Dicky Moe’ and the design of the elephant in ‘Sorry Safari’

  Fun fact: Clint Clobber never appeared again since the Gene Deitch era, because Tom and Jerry fans hated the character so much, that they demanded MGM to remove him.
