My priest told me “Don’t play the tape. Don’t give up for peace for everything.” When you overthink or think of bad memories, stop and call out to God. He can reset your mind.

I was told once that thoughts through your mind are like birds flying through the sky above you. You can't always see where they came from or where they go, but if you don't want them around, you don't have to let them sit. Just shoo them away.

It is so easy to allow our mind to slip into the abyss. We must be on guard at all times from demonic intrusive suggestions.

Our diet is not just what we eat but everything we consume. Hearing, sight, stomach, and what we put on our skin.

I heard it said by another priest regarding your mind drifting during say a Sunday liturgy. Something to the effect of; your mind wandering and thinking about things that you have done all week rather than focusing on prayer and God You're focusing on worldly pursuits and so people are surprised that the one time a week they focus on God their mind drifts astray because they've been so focused on everything else rather than God.
