  Great video! I have to say, as a would-be rider, anything other than leather makes me afraid it won't offer the right protection when I bail. I mean, I am planning not to bail, but if/when I do, I don't want to learn the hard way that a synthetic fabric doesn't protect me the way leather does.

  The problem with bike protective gear/clothing and infact anything to do with biking is all overpriced. They are ALL cheap to make but the prices for anything bike wise is just too much. Apart from the cost of getting your licence and how complicated getting you licence is, clothing is the next big thing that keeps people away from motorbikes.

  As a fellow Barnsley biker I went to Via and fell in love with the range of Belstaff jackets. In particular the Brooklands. I honestly didn’t realise Belstaff do jackets with armour as opposed to just the biker style ones. I ended up purchasing a Brooklands off eBay and it’s absolutely awesome. Great to wear with jeans. Also have a touring jacket for a totally different style on the Benelli TRK702X

  Leather takes the weather and multiplies it. If it’s cold, leather gets cold, if it’s hot, leather gets hot. Synthetic materials have moved on leaps and bounds lately.<br>I have leathers for long rides and track riding, but the jeans and hoodies have really improved comfort for relaxed riding ten fold.<br>One thing I’ve learnt is to use a decent base layer, it makes taking your gear off on a hot day easier rather than dealing with it sticking to you.

  Some so called breathable waterprof jackets are made with the most dangerous chemicals known to man, called PFAS.

  I have just bought a Rukka Nivala 2 jacket and trousers. The jacket was £1,500 but I’m a firm believer that you get what you pay for. I just hope that my one remaining kidney functions as expected or I’m in trouble 😂😂

  It all depends on what bike your riding. With cruizers you can go with style, usually leather.. for the looks. Adventure - textile jackets with lots of vents.. superbike - tight fitting leathers.

  Hi , after watching so many different video’s for bike gear , camping gear , backpacking etc , etc , l really liked both your easy way of not over stressing detail or being a bit “ technical “ just a good straight forward getting advice and wearing the gear and what you thought of them , chilled out and lots of how they felt . Great way of presenting . I have subscribed to hear what you think on many other things , being a biker for over 52 years . Well done .

  I have the Andes Air jacket (in the same color even) as you looked at here, and it is an AWESOME summer jacket, and given that I live in California, having a summer jacket is totally worth it, but the Alpinestars jacket I would actually recommend is the Bogota for your all season/use case jacket. &nbsp;The Bogota is CE02. &nbsp;It comes with the rain liner/over jacket, and a thermal liner. &nbsp;It is not a mesh jacket by default, so it&apos;s warm in cooler weather, but it also has unzip panels that fold down and expose a mesh layer to breath in warmer weather. &nbsp;And while it&apos;s not a cheap jacket, it&apos;s not stupid expensive either. &nbsp;I am glad that I also own the Andes Air for those really hot summer days, but my Bogota is my overall favorite of the two.
