I had the privilege of working on the Ash vs Evil dead tv series that was filmed and produced in Auckland as a VFX artist! I took a lot of inspiration from Tom's work when working on that show . What a pleasure it is seeing this video come up! Awesome work Tom thank you

I love the props but I'd sell both my thumbs to listen to the stories that go with them from people who love what they do like Tom.

This shouldn't be in an auction, these things belong in a museum.

I got to meet Tom several years ago at a Monster mania convention and he was kind enough to gift me a real piece of the stunt copy evil dead 2 book of the dead. I still have it!

Its crazy that he drew in the illustrations at night as an "extra bit of detail", yet every drawing is so intriguing, exquisite and aesthetically distinct. Especially considering he was doing all of it at around 20.

If you have the time, play it again, but close your eyes and just listen to them speak. The joy, love, and enthusiasm between Adam and Tom talking about the props is perma-grin inducing.

"My mom scoured the TV Guide for the next year to catch when it came on again..." A sobering reminder of just how good we got it, and how much we take for granted.

On the subject of Evil Dead, I always wanted someone to invent an animatronic wall mount of the laughing deer head from Evil Dead 2. To be able to disguise it as a normal deer head first, then have the eyes roll over white and make the “crackling wind up toy” noise before laughing maniacally at whoever is nearby. Just imagine how cool it would look if you could have it wired to a motion censor so it would react as they walked by. The challenge would be taking a real looking deer head and then make it contort and move like that puppet, which clearly had a man’s arm inside it. As a kid, that made me more uneasy, that the deer head had human arm bones underneath moving it around, it made it look “wrong” in an uncanny valley sort of way. I had a similar uneasy feeling to the stop motion in the film. Made me appreciate it all the more as an adult.

I slapped together a really rough necronomicon in a day to carry with me at an Oddities and Curiosities expo I went to last year. My friend loved it so much that I let her keep it. It was a sketchbook at the core, but I didn't add any illustrations. She's using it as a family cookbook now. The Necronom-nom-nom-icon

Now this is movie magic! No computers, just stop motion and real special effects.
