If Sally Field at her daughter’s funeral in Steel Magnolias doesn’t tear your soul out, I don’t know a performance that can.

The scene I believe you should have included was the final sit-down and confrontation scene in the 2009 film ‘Precious’ where Mo’Niquie’s character confesses her physical, sexual, and emotional abuse of her daughter since the age of three and reveals how deep her resentment and mental illness runs within her. The scene makes us hear the most awful statements come out of a mother’s mouth to and about her daughter, yet we can’t help but feel empathy for this monster who put her man and herself before her child. It makes the audience question: What if a monster doesn’t know that she is one?

Of course Meryl Streep in Sophie’s Choice choosing the child. The most wrenching scene in cinema.

Gena Rowlands and Patricia Neal were two of my favorite actresses. Both unconventionally beautiful and uniquely talented.

The scene in Mystic River when Sean Penn’s character finds out the body was his daughter. I knew when I watched it that he had the Oscar.

I kid you not, I saw Goodfellas the day it opened in theaters!  It was THAT SCENE, the "Whack Morrie" scene that sent me to film school.  If I am NOT mistaken, that scene was filmed at a higher speed than 24 frames per second, to slow down and better capture the moment!  I have my BA and MFA in film & television because of that scene!  Thank you for highlighting it!🤩🤩🤩
