Just like Judy Garland, no matter what she was going through or how weak or sick, she came alive on stage.

I've been fascinated by her since my youth. My mother was french and dad American and we had her albums that I would listen to. Her voice was mesmerizing and powerful and I would ask my mother about her. She told me she had met her and was friend's with one of her pianists. My mother's world was theatre and films in France and had many eccentric friends that knew Piaf. I remember my mother telling me that her life was tragic. It made me sad and intrigued me This all before my 16th birthday. But as I went into my teenage years my musical interests moved beyond my childhood parental influence. I would come home and on occasion hear my mother playing Piaf. Then the movie came out and my heart stirred and I had a renaissance of Piaf and probed my mother more about her. She told me a few stories and I started listening to her again. She stirs something in me. The tragedy that was her life and the immense will she had to perform and rise above her own pain and anguish is heroic in some sense. This documentary encapsulates my sentiments towards her. Thank you.

Seems like she’s France’s Judy Garland. So beloved, so talented, painful life. Addiction and hardship. A legend. And they are both tiny in stature and so loved!

Fabulous lady, such a truly sad story. She was friends with my grandparents. She rests next to my biological father as well. I shall rest there myself in a small area. Hope her pain is still at peace in 2024. She passed three years before I was born. God rest her soul. Her whole life story is so tragic that her family put her through awful, just awful. She needed to end her pain. Some of us are strong enough to ask why; some can not handle it and decide when they want to go on their teams and even better she found love again and dispute the age difference she didn't care or did he and he truly loved her. God knows I understand that as well. La Vida Rose as one of the first songs I was sang to and learned. Via France Our Broken Spario ah if anyone knows about her they should know what she was known as.

What a lady, afraid of nothing and willing to experience the full range of human emotions. Always rest in peace and good to know you took all that love with you as you touched so many lives.
