I moved to Britain from the US 25 years ago and I remember feeling a bit of the same feelings you’ve expressed in your videos. My perspective changed the day I decided it wasn’t about adapting to the new culture, or trying to fit in, it was about finding MY space and letting others adapt (or not) as they chose. At the time this happened my husband had just passed away and I no longer had a buffer between me and this culture, I had no family and no real friends to talk to and it felt insurmountable. Then I read in a book a simple question: who are you?  Well, I had NO idea. I’d been married for so long that I’d lost my own sense of identity.. I couldn’t have said even what my favourite colour was.. so I took 2 years to discover that question. It was then that I realised my own value and worth. This month I finished the last room in my house (it’s taken me 10 years) making it into my own environment and realised (when watching this video) how much I’ve made this foreign land my own.  I owe gratitude to you for making thought inspired videos, thank you..

Good for you, Chani. I admit I am living vicariously through you as at 70, I was 2 weeks from getting my passport to move from Australia to Ireland. No bushfires or snakes in Ireland.But my daughter was diagnosed with cancer markers so I chose to give up my dream. Its very difficult so I try to escape my reality by watching others make their dreams come true. Lots of grief. But your channel is calming, inspiring, informative and has Millie! The front porch looks great. I understand you noticing that you are truly settling in after all your renovations.Thanks for sharing with us.Kaye, Aus.🌸
