I don’t do many small, in-person rooms but this one is for serious operators only. If you run a $1M+ business, apply to attend our Growth Accelerator Workshop → https://contrarianthinking.biz/GAW-0928-YTPC

You don’t buy the S&P because of the top ten companies you buy it because you don’t have to worry about rebalancing yourself.

Dollar cost averaging is still the best way for the average investor to invest

Every few years someone says a timeless strategy is dead. The truth is simple investing principles rarely die; they just get repackaged. Consistency, patience, and discipline still outperform hype.

I'm glad to see many comments calling out the BS in this video.

Your point about Kodak is actually a good reason to buy an index fund.

She’s not focused on what’s best for investors—she’s focused on selling her own narrative. She isn’t acting as a fiduciary, and the rise of content creators presenting themselves as financial professionals while giving investment advice is a serious problem.
From my perspective, strategies like hers are unlikely to outperform the broader market over long time horizons—10, 20, or 30 years. History consistently favors disciplined investing in low-cost index funds.
Personally, I’d rather keep it simple: steadily allocate capital into diversified, low-cost funds. If you want a slight variation, something like an equal-weight S&P 500 approach can spread exposure more evenly across companies instead of concentrating in the largest names.
At the end of the day, keep learning, stay disciplined, and be selective about whose advice you trust.

Invest in an index fund takes no work. Just discipline. Having direct reports is like owning another job.

Too late, i already Dollar Cost Averaged my way to a $1.4M portfolio (with Mutual Funds and ETF's and a tiny number of stocks where my largest single stock position is XOM) over the last 29 years. That doesn't mean your ideas won't work but it does mean that putting down Dollar Cost Averaging is not the way and it's not dead, i'm only 53 and am still working and loving it. My portfolio will continue to grow over the next 20+ years and i will be enjoying my cash flow over time. There is always a new/better way to do things, i will look closer at what you have said here but i will also keep in mind what has made me successful over the last almost 3 decades.
