  I learned this many years ago when I was a young Christian from a Bible school teacher who took the time to teach me personally. He had taught at a Bible school, and Billy Graham Sr. was actually a student in his class.<br><br>He taught me that tithing was part of the Old Testament law. Under that system, the tithe was connected to Israel, the priesthood, and the tribe of Levi. The twelve tribes of Israel each had their own function, and the tribe of Levi had the priestly function. They were the ones connected to receiving the tithe. That was their job under the Old Testament system.<br><br>So there are many things wrong with the way this gets twisted today for the gain of the church. It is wrong, and it needs to be called out as wrong. It is wrong to tell Christians they are still under the law when they are not. It puts burdens on people’s shoulders that should not be there.<br><br>Under the New Covenant, giving is taught differently. The New Testament says:<br><br>“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”<br>— 2 Corinthians 9:7<br><br>That is very different from telling Christians, “Sit down, do the math, figure out 10%, and that is what you owe.” That is not the system God has in place in the New Testament after Jesus was crucified.<br><br>People should come to church and give without compulsion. They should decide in their heart what they want to give and give it happily. God loves a cheerful giver. He does not want someone giving reluctantly, feeling pressured, or acting like they are paying a bill they owe.<br><br>I believe Christians should give, and I believe generosity is biblical. But I do not believe Christians should be pressured, guilted, or manipulated into giving a mandatory 10% as though they are still under the law.

  Pastor Rick must know there are 3 tithes in the Old Testament. 10% to the Tribe of Levites. They were the Priesthood and supported by the 11 other tribes. Another 10% for ceremonies, celebrations, festivals. Another 10% every 3 years for widows and orphans.<br>If you want to be under the law. Then you should be tithing 20 and 1/3%. We are New Covenant believers and cheerful givers with no percentages, or resentful giving.<br>False doctrine 10% tithe, benefiting the church leaders.

  Only thing i disagree is the tithes. GOD loves a cheerful giver. If we do that we must do all the others under the law. No way God set me free.
