  As an artist, I can tell you that even dull movies can have great cinematography. It's about composition. Where does your eye go first? What draws your attention? Leading lines. Colors. Contrast. "Netflix" movies care about one thing. The story. The story could be great too. But it will always fall short compared to the movie with a little bit of everything

  I have to say, I don't think it's possible for us to end up with the bad ending. With every action, there is a REACTION. People will always crave real movies, things that make us feel seen, make us cry, make us yearn to create and live and grow. With every 10 shitty, uninspired movies we get that get shipped off to the graveyard that is instant streaming, somewhere there is a kid sitting in their bedroom who is learning how to operate their first DSLR, or a teenager working on their first feature script draft. Sure we'll go through the motions, but with every "death", there is rebirth. Creativity has and always will prevail ESPECIALLY in the face of the things that threaten it (AI and corporate greed, currently) and with the amount of success we've seen in VERY young directors and artists just this year, I think we are definitely on our way to a renaissance. <3

  One of the simplest ways I've found to identify if a movie is "good" is if I want to rewatch it again. Project Hail Mary is a perfect example. I actually might rewatch it again tonight. Because its so extremely good.

  when I was a child, in the late 90s, &nbsp;I wrote a little dystopian short story for class about a future where all movies would be spontaneously generated as an audience watched, and the generic characters and plot would be adjusted in real-time response to sensors monitoring the average reactions of people in the movie theater. &nbsp;<br><br>(this was before we got streaming platforms, &nbsp;so I didn&apos;t even think of how much more isolated the viewer could be) <br><br>And in my little kid story there was an underground troop of &quot;thespians&quot; who revived micro-budget theater productions, traveling around discretely putting on plays in hidden venues so the AI government wouldn&apos;t stop them, &nbsp;because they wanted to keep control over all media, and not inspire controversial expression.<br><br>Anyway, &nbsp;I hope the entertainment industry doesn&apos;t go too far in that direction. <br>Having an artificial system generate personalized stories to keep you hooked, &nbsp;incorporating specific elements and faces from your real life could be a tempting gimmick.<br>But at the expense of authentic expressive connection with an artistic intent from fellow human storytellers. <br>Even if the quality of results appear polished, &nbsp;there&apos;s still that intrinsic value of authorship that will be lost. <br>And investment in one system takes away from real creators.

  this is exactly why I don&apos;t want Marvel to peak again like it did in the late 2010s. we&apos;re getting good blockbusters since Marvel started collapsing after Endgame and I honestly hope things keep going this way
